Weddings are gorgeous celebrations of love, ever so memorable and precious, especially when they are hosted in stunning locations! When Gagan and Henna reached out to us and told us about their wedding at the Nirvana Estate, we were excited! They were very sweet and we felt they fully trusted us in capturing their Indian wedding celebrations!

California has so many hidden gems when it comes to wedding venues. The Nirvana Estate (formerly Edwards Estate, or Hathaway Ranch) is a very unique wedding venue in the outskirts of Bakersfield, CA. When you enter this beautiful property, you will get a notion that you are somewhere in Napa Valley or even Tuscany. A laid-back luxury with gorgeous terrace pathways and a garden scape that fills you with bliss when celebrating at the Nirvana Estate wedding venue. It is surrounded by vineyards and gorgeous olive trees, rolling green hills, and has sunset views like no other – which for us as wedding videographers is true bliss! We got to capture their story with breathtaking scenery that completed their video. This picturesque venue was truly ideal for Gagan & Henna’s Indian wedding in Bakersfield.

Their elegant and high-end 5-day celebration started with henna at the bride’s home done by Minal Beauty, followed by a beautiful Jaggo the next day filled with singing and a ton of dancing! Their Indian wedding in Bakersfield included a Maiyan ritual for both the bride and groom on the third day when they were blessed in yellow turmeric which we absolutely loved capturing for their wedding video. 

The wedding day, the 4th day, was all about their ceremony filled with Indian traditions. From the baraat, to the milni, to the Anand Karaj where they officially became husband and wife – we enjoyed filming every single moment. We then headed to a beautiful photoshoot at a local golf course where we were able to take some beautiful wedding portraits (and videos) of the couple. To wrap up the day, we went back to the bride’s home to capture a super emotional vidai. The family led the bride outside the doorsteps of their house where the bride threw handfuls of rice behind her. After a few minutes of farewell and many tears, the bride drives off with the groom into the sunset. For some reason, the vidai is always our favorite tradition to film at an Indian Wedding. We find that the content we capture is powerful and elevates the wedding film. Notice how we took a moment to show the vidai in the video – just to give the viewer the understanding of the importance of that moment. 

The 5th day was their Indian reception at the Nirvana Estate. Gagan and Henna arrived early at the Nirvana Estate wedding venue which gave us plenty of time to get creative and film romantic shots throughout the property. The couple was natural and so easy to work with and that inspired us even more. Silk Floral Events turned the whole estate into wedding art that elevated the whole atmosphere with coordination from Henna Bespoke Weddings, looking truly dreamy for their wedding video. 

What made the wedding and the reception unique is that we worked on a Same Day Edit throughout the reception day to show in the beginning of the reception. We challenged ourselves to include some reception day shots, especially the grand entrance into the edit. It was a very critical moment once the grand entrances happened and we pulled off the edit with just a few minutes to spare (that was planned). We passed the edit to Dj Hans (the wedding DJ) to play for everyone and it was successful. The response we received from the couple and the guests was amazing and rewarding. I do want to note that this video was uploaded the same night as the wedding reception so what you see in this video is exactly what the couple watched at the reception – it’s stunning! 

We worked as a photography and cinematography team on this Indian wedding with my brother. Because we focus on our specific art (photography and videography) yet work as a team, that gives us even more space to get creative and truly collaborate together for the best efficiency and capture the best moments. Instead of competing for the best shots, we helped each other a lot.
