End of last week I received a phone call with a big project proposal. But the project didn't fall into my hands so easy. I had to provide some of my work in a short demo clip to the art director. Honestly, I didn't have a demo clip. So next morning, after sunday service, I quickly stopped by Ugol Studios to collect some of my work. Looking through a lot of archive is not easy and picking out something for a 1.5 min demo is difficult. I didn't know what I wanted to include. I've done many short clips, projects, logo sequences, etc. But I grabbed more than I needed just in case. I quickly drove home, grabbed a plate of mashed potatoes and ran to the computer half working half eating. My demo needs to be uploaded by 7:00 pm. It's already 3:30 pm. This demo was fully done in After Effects. Nothing was taking out into Final Cut. Literally, I treated After Effects as a linear editing program. Once everything was done, I was satisfied with what I created in 3.5 hrs. Oh and the clip was online at 6:45 pm. 15 min before the requested time. ...

February is a very risky month for those who want a sunny day wedding. Well, Friday, the day before the wedding, it poured rain all over Sacramento. Not the best weather before the wedding and surely didn't have me as excited for the next day. Waking up in the morning, I was expecting another rainy day wedding shoot, but I was wrong. It was clear skies. My dad walked in and asked for the keys to defrost my car, which I thought was nice. After the car was defrosted, I headed to Rancho Cordova, to the bride house, to start my filming. Arriving at the brides house, I walk and got to filming. Finding my self an unexpected wedding videographer. The brides little brother, who's name I can't remember, helped me film this wedding (at the brides house). Well he's 6 years old I think, but he "helped." He would watch me and follow the sequence that I pressed the buttons, therefore quickly caught on. That button is to make the screen turn on and that one makes the "red" dot go on so it's recording. Oh and the focus, you have to spin that round thing in the front and that makes the picture on the screen clear. So anyways, I walked away from the camera once and came back to him recording the bride. So I gave him credit in the post. Later on I realized that there was around 10 shots, 5 min each recorded by him. The kitchen table, the bride doing hair, the back yard, and so on. The bride was very relaxed all day and smiled a lot making it very comfortable and easy to film her. Once the groom came over we quickly got out of the house and headed to Old Sacramento for some wedding photos. Time was short as many brides don't realize you gotta give like 1 hr of free time in the morning because hair and make up will quickly use that free time up. We had around 45 minutes to have a photo session but I think I pulled of many of the shots that I wanted from the freezing February...

This is our first wedding this wedding season and we are happy to produce this wedding teaser from last Saturdays wedding. Luke and Nadia met at ARC (American River College) and are happily married. Filming their wedding was fun and relaxing. Luke and Nadia are meant for each other and you can see that through their laughter together. Ugol Ministries is working hard at preparing to film/produce the Slavic Chorale Christmas Concert with House of Bread Church. Here at Aperina Studios, we are going to contribute and our team will be working in the production as well as our cameras. Of course, the service will be filmed in HD (High Definition), however, this time we are not able to live stream it online (that might be next year). Nevertheless, we are excited to be part of this amazing concert. You are all invited, as it is a free event for the community. Couple people came up to us and asked us what the final product/film looks like. This question was very difficult to answer because you can't just explain a creative process in just one sentence. So we put together this wedding film for this couple. On top of this clip, they did get the full documentary of their Ceremony and Reception. We chose all the songs for them as they trusted our music choice and our creative process. We kept in contact with the couple and posted daily updates to this film while it was in proofing stage so they can watch and comment on our edits. So far I got this from Irina: Hey Vitaliy! How are ya? I love the cover! It looks great! I saw the last proof yesterday and I must say its awesome!!! I am spilling the beans to everyone and letting everyone watch it already on vimeo! Everything looks aaaaaa-mazing! Before you watch the wedding film, here are somethings you need to know. We used 4 Cameras for this shoot. Most of the time is was 3 filming, however, on more exciting/complex moments, we used 4. The audio didn't work as well as we expected  it to (I wish it was better) but we have already improved in that area and are using more audio backups to get a crispier and cleaner sound from each wedding. We did use a mixed camera shoot. 2 Sony EX1r cameras' and 2 Canon EOS 5D MII cameras' and learned that even though the Sony cameras' are very amazing cameras and easy to work with, but the Canon 5D MIIs outperformed the Sony cameras' on this wedding. The follow wedding, the Sony cameras' performed very well because we shot outside. Don't get me worng, the Sony camera's are very good cameras, and I love them just as much, but in some situations, the Canons' are better to film with. So here is the wedding film. Forecast said heavy rain for saturday! We got lucky! No rain. This helped us pull of the amazing colors and no hard shadows on the face. About the couple, they are a very enjoyable couple. They were relaxed and friendly. Zackary was always trying to keep  the bride "warm" and had us repeat shots over and over again. We got the hint :) lol. We at Aperina Studios, a wedding videography company in sacramento, were recently hired to film a wedding of Sergey & Sveta. During the wedding day photoshoot, their friend tagged along to Old Sacramento for our creative session with the bride and groom. It was a fun day until it got hilarious with this guy doing some weird movement/dance...

My uncle Igor Pyavka, from Perfect Angle Productions, asked me and my brother Paul to film and put together a wedding teaser before their ceremony. We happily agreed as he was an uncle that we both spent a lot of time hanging out, camping, fishing, volleyball, and also creating the company Perfect Angle Productions together. We have a lot of memories together and this day went down as good memories too. The day was very relaxing with no rush. We got plenty of footage and here is a short teaser that I put together.
